Jó hosszú, de érdemes elolvasni az egész Marcának adott interjúját a kirúgott szakértő csajnak akinek pl glutén free Carvajalt köszönhetjük. Pereli épp a klubot. Lehet nem véletlen hogy a játékosok nem tudnak futni ilyen orvosi háttérrel...
Itziar Gonzalez (Real Madrid's former nutrition specialist): "How did I join Real Madrid? As far as I know, it was the president himself who asked the Medical Services to hire me for the 2021-22 season. After bad experiences with the medical services of other teams, I told them no, but they insisted, and I went because they told me the president requested it."
"That season, Carvajal and Rodrygo were the only ones who wanted to work with me. There were a few other players who told me they'd like to start working with me, but the doctors told them "don't even think about it." After the league ended, I didn't hear anything from Real Madrid until November 2023, when they called me again to work with Carvajal and Arda Güler for the entire 2023-24 season. The doctors told them not to work with me, and told them my work was useless."
"In October 2024, Dani Carvajal asked for my help again when he got injured. Later, a physiotherapist called me on behalf of the president, asking me to join the team. I said I couldn't be there full-time, nor did I want to, because they didn't respect my work. They reached an agreement with me so I could work there half the week and from home the other half. I agreed because they told me it was a personal request from the president and that he would make sure the doctors let me work and respect me, and that if I showed results, many people with chronic injuries could have hope. I must say that I greatly admire Florentino Pérez; I have immense respect and affection for him, and I came with the sole purpose of giving my all to do my job well so that Florentino could be proud of me."
"How was I received by Real Madrid's medical services? The medical staff created a hostile, agressive environment from the very beginning. On my first day, they told me I was there because of the president's whim, but they said that they knew how to manipulate him, and that he would do everything they wanted, and that they were going to manipulate him into thinking I was crazy and into firing me. They didn't introduce me, greet me, or speak to me. They never met with me, despite my repeated requests; they didn't answer my emails or messages."
"Explain my work? The doctors and a physiotherapist constantly give me orders (in the hallway) on behalf of the president. Basically, they tell me to go in the corner and do nothing, but then the president himself comes to tell me what he wants me to do, which is completely different from the orders they were supposedly giving me "on behalf of the president."
"So I do exactly what the president asks: he wants me to implement my method there and be in charge of deciding everything from the Valdebebas buffet to the diets on trips and in hotels, the team's supplements and vitamins, and he wants me to create a personalized diet for any player who wants it, and for this to be implemented for the other teams as well.
"It's a huge amount of work, especially because most of the players want to try it, and I create a daily diet for each one. It takes me about an hour per player… Do the math… But I start doing it with enthusiasm because he asked me to, and I know I can help the guys."
"What went wrong at Real Madrid? They put all sorts of obstacles in my way to do my job: at the buffet, they serve the foods I advise against; the waitress laughs at me and constantly tells the players to ignore me, that I don't know what I'm talking about; the cook doesn't serve what I ask for and serves whatever he feels like, like pre-match pastries; the guy in charge of buying stuff doesn't buy what I recommend; the guy who's supposed to prepare the supplements serves different ones than the ones I specify; the doctors and physiotherapists tell the players not to follow my instructions, they don't give me any information about how the players are doing or what they're being given (medication, vitamins, etc.), even though I insist they don't, that they should avoid interactions with the supplements, as it could be harmful to them… They constantly laugh at me, make fun of me in the WhatsApp groups, and they tell the players to take things different from what I recommend."
"Despite all the difficulties that these people at the club put in my way, most players wanted to follow my instructions and my program, and many of them had to follow them at home due to the impossibility of doing so in Valdebebas"
"Real Madrid's nutrition and diet plan? Real Madrid does NOT have a nutrition service AT ALL, because the doctor who was in charge when I arrived told me that diet and supplements had nothing to do with injuries and performance. The cook chooses the food he wants to cook, that's it. They told me my job was worthless."
"The players who worked with me started noticeably improving, and talking about it in the locker room. One no longer has the pain he'd had for months; another no longer has the cramps he always suffered; another says he's never tired anymore; another says that he's more agile and faster; and, above all, several say they don't get tired and could keep playing past the 90 minutes without any problem.
Two of these players tell me they're telling the president directly. The fact that the players are saying this and linking it to the changes in their nutrition and supplement regimens is generating unbearable hatred from the Medical Services and the cafeteria staff towards me, and 13 days after signing the contract, I'm asking to terminate it and not return. But I'm told by management that the players and the president want me to stay and to stick it out, that they'll sort everything out."
"My relationship with the players? They're wonderful. I couldn't talk to them much because the Medical Services put all sorts of obstacles in my way, and it was they who asked me to travel with the team so they could talk to me, since it was impossible to do so in Valdebebas. In general, I think they're fantastic boys, respectful of me and my work, curious, and eager to learn and understand the reasons behind things. They saw what was happening to me and tried to make me feel better.
I've grown to love them a lot, and honestly, I feel very sorry for them because they're victims in a golden cage and can't do anything about it. Despite the Medical Services telling them daily not to follow my instructions, most of them tried to, which saddened me greatly, because they didn't want to upset the doctors and wanted to follow my guidelines. So, many of them took what the doctors and I said. I told them that was wrong and that it was okay if they wanted to take what the doctors told them; I would have preferred not to give them anything, but they wanted to follow my instructions… It was awful."
"What did the players think of my work? Overall, they felt cared for, and they liked that. They went from having no nutritional support or supplements at all to having a personalized plan every day. When they could see me, they would tell me how they were feeling, and I would try to take care of them. I felt a bit like a mother because they would tell me they had a stomachache, or that they hadn't slept well, or that they had a slight fever… I always tried to help them, and they thanked me with very, very kind gestures and little things, which is the only positive thing I take away from this horrible experience."
"The Atalanta match in December 2024 was the first in which the supplements and diet I recommend were incorporated, more or less. It could be because of that, or it could be a coincidence, but the boys are now in great physical shape, and some players who weren't following my instructions want to start folliwng them, while those who were want to continue.
Overall, there's been very positive talk in the locker room, and the medical staff can't stand it. The doctor and the waitress at the buffet falsely accused me of something to management; I have an alibi and prove it's a false accusation. After that, they make another false accusation, which I again prove is a lie. Faced with this hostile situation, management sends me home and won't let me travel to the match against Espanyol."
"In that match against Espanyol, the players weren't given their supplements. I went back to Valdebebas and continued my work as best I could, knowing everything they were doing. I was scared, anxious, couldn't sleep, cried all the time, asked the management for help, and they told me to hang on, that they wanted me to keep doing my job. In the match against Girona, I saw the president, and he was furious because of some lies he'd been told about me. For me, it all ended there. All I'd suffered to help the lads and for him to be proud, and he believed the lies they told him. I asked to leave again, but they wouldn't let me, and they told me they were going to tell the president the truth. That's all I wanted."
"After that, they prevented me from having any contact with the players, they won't let me go to the matches. They didn't give the players my supplements for the match against Betis. During that period, they let me work at the matches against Atlético de Madrid and Real Sociedad, but secretly. They called me to a meeting with a sponsor, and he told me he was friends with the doctors, that they had already managed to get the president to fire me, but that they were going to try to humiliate me for the rest of my time there."
"The management then banned me from entering Valdebebas, supposedly for my physical safety. They tell me they're launching an internal investigation and that I shouldn't worry, that they're going to fire everyone because what they've done is intolerable. I ask to leave again, and they refuse. They tell me to continue doing my job from home. I tell them I can't just make up instructions without knowing anything about the players, that it's malpractice, and they say I have an obligation to do it.
"I work in constant fear, tirelessly, and very frustrated, because I feel like what I'm doing is pointless, but I keep doing it every day without a break until August 4th. Furthermore, I know that the instructions I send out every day aren't being followed by the Medical Services, and that they're giving the players different instructions than the ones I propose."
"Then, the Human Resources director called me to thank me for my work and to tell me they couldn't get the doctors on board and that the Nutrition Service was being canceled.
"They told me I'd done an exceptional job, that I'd done everything right, and that they were paying me the remainder of my contract. I told him I just wanted the president and the players to know the truth, and that I demanded they retract all the lies they'd told about me at the club, and, very politely, he told me that wasn't going to be possible."
"After that, I filed a lawsuit even though they "advised" me not to and telling me I have no chance of winning, and that they would ruin my life. I tell them it's not about winning or losing, I just want the president, the players, and the people I care about to know the truth.
"I decided to speak up now because everyone—people on the inside, people who had no idea, family, friends, acquaintances, journalists—told me that Real Madrid has a lot of power and that they were going to twist the information against me, and that they were going to harm me physically and damage my name and reputation. But I still have nightmares every night. I want to close this chapter forever, and I feel that until I tell my story, I won't be able to close it."
"Down for Rodrygo... Éder Militao. Carvajal. It's Carvajal's cross... RODRYGOOO, oooh it's extraordinary!!! They prayed for miracles and miracles arrived! REAL MADRID, THE TEAM OF DREAMS. Where has that come from? How did that happen?!"
